A Celtic Mass for Peace Planned at Dunedin Church
- Name: Rev. John Ransom
- Occasion: Special Presentation
A Celtic Mass for Peace: Songs for the Earth will be presented on Sunday, Jan. 13 at a local church. This monumental original work will be presented at Living Faith Metropolitan Community Church at 5 p.m. in its sanctuary at 1120 Curlew Road in Dunedin. It will be followed by the Service of Holy Communion in the Celtic tradition. The public is welcome and there is no charge.
A Celtic Mass for Peace is the product of an integration of John Philip Newell’s lyrics and Sam Guarnaccia’s music. Newell is the noted Scottish theologian and spiritualist, author of many books on Celtic spirituality. Guarnaccia is a Vermont native, classical guitarist, teacher, and a composer with deep ties to the struggles, traditions, and spirituality of indigenous people, both ancient and contemporary. The spoken prayer-songs of the work will be brought to life by Living Faith’s pastor, Rev. John Paul Ransom, and spiritual flautist Mary Catok.
A Celtic Mass for Peace is a work of hauntingly-beautiful music and lyrics, a mystical journey into the ancient Celtic Christian world, with deeply profound messages about God in the world today. It reflects and expresses a spirituality of inclusiveness and liberation meant for all peoples.
