Local Public Relations Firm Announces ‘Charity Adoption’ Contest to Help Charities in Need
Tampa, FL – In times of economic turbulence, people are forced to cling more tightly to their wallets and brace themselves for the possibility of greater economic hardships. And, with talks of the fiscal cliff and budgeting, it seems as though few will escape the repercussions of impending budget cuts and higher taxes. Some of the hardest hit organizations are charities that depend on donations from the public.
So, how will these organizations that are bettering the lives of so many and greatly improving the Tampa Bay area stay afloat? According to Jennifer Vickery, president and CEO of National Strategies Public Relations (NSPR), it will take the help and charity of local businesses—a commitment she is willing (and eager) to make.
“Now more than ever, charities need our help. Whether it’s communicating their message, sharing their successes or encouraging donation within the community, other local businesses in a position to do so need to volunteer to help,” said Vickery.
And Vickery is taking the first step in doing so as she announces her firm’s new “Charity Adoption” program which will provide 11 different charities (one a month) a month of free media relations support throughout 2013.
The program kicks off this month with a “call for entries.” NSPR is inviting charities to send a short essay (200 words or less) explaining why their organization needs free public relations support by January 18, 2013. The NSPR Board of Directors will review all submissions received and select 11 charities to champion over the course of the year. The winning charities will be announced on January 31, 2013 and the month of services will be selected at random.
“Our firm prides itself on working with organizations that endeavor to fulfill great missions and make positive changes,” said Megan Brewster, Account Executive at NSPR. “Often times, the organizations that deserve the most recognition for their efforts cannot afford help promoting them, until now.”
All charities interested in participating in the “Charity Adoption” program must:
- Submit a maximum 200 word essay to charityadoption@nspublicrelations.com by midnight on January 18;
- Have official status of 501c3;
- Be located in Tampa Bay;
“We want to give our all to charities doing great things,” concluded Vickery. “It’s part of NSPR’s mission and vision to help the organizations doing great things continue to keep serving our community and we are excited to get started.”
