Chapel-By-The-Sea will be having their final Non-Trivial Pursuit speaker of 2012 on Monday, November 26 at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Dr. John Fischer, who will speak on the subject, “The Jewish Roots of Christmas.”
The Non-Trivial Pursuits series features speakers who come to Chapel-By-The-Sea on select Monday nightsat 7:30 in Chapel Hall and share their expertise. Speakers cover both religious and non-religious topics with the speaker’s presentation followed by a time for questions. The event usually ends between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and the event is free.
Dr. John Fischer is a Messianic rabbi at Ohr Chadash Synagogue in Florida and professor at St. Petersburg Seminary and Yeshiva.
The son of Holocaust survivors, Dr. Fischer has written numerous books and articles and taught and spoken all over the world on the topic of the Jewish roots of Christianity. His talk will uncover some of the little-known links between Christmas and Jewish traditions, as well as the connection between Christmas and Hannukah.
