The hype of “American Idol” and the “Voice” have made it to Palm Harbor! CSA Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation is presenting its first annual “Senior Idol” this fall at The Centre of Palm Harbor. Contestants will compete in front of local “celebrity” judges and audience voting. Ten contestants will be selected from an audition process occurring this October.
Open auditions for Senior Idol will happen on Monday, October 15 from 6-9pm at The Centre, located at 1500 16th Street in Palm Harbor. Those interested need to bring a CD or iPod with their music and be prepared for two songs, at the judge’s discretion. Auditions are closed to the public and are first-come, first-served. The age for auditions is 50 plus.
“It’s a great show and we’re really excited to bring it to Palm Harbor,” according to Mathew Eberius, the show’s coordinator. Eberius, who spent several years in another recreation agency, had several successful talent competitions in north Pinellas. This is his first with Palm Harbor. “There’s a great creative vibe in Palm Harbor and I know we’ll have some show-stoppers come out to auditions.”
“Senior Idol” will take place on Friday, November 9 at 7PM in the Palm Banquet Room of The Centre. Tickets will go on sale October 15. Doors open at 6:15PM.
