A recent rash of crimes in the Indian Trails Subdivision illustrates the need for Palm Harbor residents to protect their property.
A check of police activity in Palm Harbor found that on Nov. 29, Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies responded to nine vehicle burglaries in the Indian Trails subdivision.
Vehicle burglaries are often crimes of opportunity according to Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Spokesperson, Cecilia Barreda.
"Lock you car doors," Barreda says. "Thieves will go for the easy target, vehicles that are unlocked. Lock your car, even if you're gone a short amount of time."
The reported burglaries come as Pinellas County Sheriff's Detectives also investigate a series of vandalisms. Someone has been using a paintball type gun to shoot marbles at the windows of vehicles and businesses, damaging them. In most cases, marbles were found nearby. One of the 19 incidents was in Palm Harbor.
Signs along Alt. 19 in Palm Harbor warn people to protect themselves from becoming crime victims by locking their vehicle's doors and report any suspicious activity.

YET AGAIN THE CRIME MOVES INTO "OUR" NEIGHBORHOODS. WE ARE BEING OVERRUN BY "THEM" THEY ARE TAKING OVER, APPARENTLY THEY DID NOT HAVE PROPER UPBRINGING OTHERWISE WHY WOULD THEY DO SUCH THINGS TO OTHERS - NO RESPECT - NO CONSIDERATION OF OTHER....WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO.....SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO GO TO A PLACE (IF THERE IS SUCH A PLACE) WHERE PEOPLE SMILE AND ARE KIND, NOT HURT EACH OTHER AND LIVE IN PEACE WITH EACH OTHER, THIS IS THE SEASON FOR THAT, BUT I'M NOT SURE EVERYONE KNOWS THIS.. :(

Perhaps when people stop being apathetic and locking themselves in their homes instead of initiating contact with their fellow neighbors this activity will stop (at least a little). No one wants to get involved, no one wants to hurt anyone's feelings (hey, have your kid turn down that thumping music, will you?), and no one wants to socialize beyond the minimal requirements of basic interaction. This (IMHO) is the reason "they" are overtaking society - everyone is afraid to stand up and say something for fear of offending, or God forbid having to speak to someone directly. If you see or hear something suspicious - ACT IMMEDIATELY - and secure your car and home locks and have proper lighting so unwanted activity stands out to others.

you are so right! people will not get involved in any way shape or manner...... I currently live next to "one of them" who does not give a dam about anyone but himself. He thinks he runs the neighborhood, NOT I do not give in to him I tell him to MYOB or call the Police, but it is their job either..its sad that this what we have come to. No one else in the neighborhood will tell him not to park on their lawn or whatever, they are afraid he will retaliate, hurt them or damage their car, whatever...thats why no one takes the initiative to do anything and yes calling the police is not the answer, but if its the only way these idiots will hopefully pay attention, then so be it....
Yup lock your doors, cars, keep a light on somewhere around your home, so you spend a few cents on electric its worth the safety.. or install security cameras if you feel the need...
I feel bad for those residents of Indian Trails, its such a lovely neighborhood especially at this time of year with all the beautiful Christmas decorations..
I will shut up for now, please everyone think about what Anne and myself have said and maybe, just maybe next time you will act on a situation..
