Here's something cool to put on your calendar. Next Friday, a food truck rally will roll into old downtown Palm Harbor.

Old Palm Harbor Main Street is sponsoring the family-friendly event, which will also include a touch-a-truck area, a sidewalk chalk art contest, bounce house, rock climbing, face painting, bungee trampoline, live DJ, street dancing, and even a cash mob.

The "Food Truck Rally & Family Fun Night" will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 13 at the Harbor Hall parking lot, 1190 Georgia Ave.

Debbie Thomas, Executive Director at Old Palm Harbor Main Street, says the food truck rally is a budget-friendly way to dine. Food will be priced in the $5 to $8 range.

"There's a wide variety of food trucks to choose from, including stuff for kids to eat. You can just sit at a picnic table outside and enjoy," said Thomas.

Old Palm Harbor Main Street will also be selling non-alcoholic beverages at the event.

Food trucks that have agreed to participate include:

A food truck rally is nice, but how does that help the local businesses???????? On Florida Avenue??????? Who does the new ED work for, the businesses in old Downtown Palm Harbor or the food truck people?

Hi Happy,
I have not attended an event in downtown Palm Harbor, but I wouldn't miss this one. I would like to see citizens provide for those in need instead of the government.
More govenment involvement equals more government control.

Are you Kidding me Happy???????? Anything that brings people to the downtown area is a good thing. I was involved in the planning for the Parrot head Party and the only businesses that were willing to help pay for the event were Peggys and the Fireside. The money that Old PH makes goes into Old PH. The landscape and the property around the church and a future plan is to put decorative lighting all around downtown. Anything the new ED does to bring people and $$$ to DownTown is a good thing. You dont know what you're talking about Happy. The business owners down there should be greatful that someone cares enough to work for their benifit.

This is about publicity for PH. There is a trade off between cash in doors of business versus getting the name/brand out to the consumers.. besides none of these trucks sell beer which goes great with burgers, hot dogs and fish tacos - so I've heard. Also, not many will visit a truck then go STRAIGHT home.

Hi Happy,
Thanks so much for stopping by. I did not organize the rally, so I do not know the thought process behind it. However, off the top of my head, I would imagine that one benefit would be that a food truck rally might attract people who've never visited downtown Palm Harbor before. When they attend the rally, they might realize what a cool place it is and decide to visit the shops and restaurants that day, or on a future date. I know that this is just one event of many that are being planned for old Downtown Palm Harbor that the new ED is working on. Hope this helps and thanks again for reading :)
