Man Had Labeled Jars Containing Pot, Say Deputies

A Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy says Matthew Denison Cunha, 23, of East Lake, had four mason jars of marijuana in a backpack when he was pulled over in Palm Harbor. The jars were allegedly labeled Real Lemon, Flo, Cindy 99 and Strawberry Cough.

A traffic stop in Palm Harbor ended with the arrest of an East Lake man on a felony drug charge.

Around 9 p.m. on Feb. 10, Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies pulled over Matthew Denison Cunha, 23, of East Lake, at U.S. 19 and Highlands Boulevard in Palm Harbor, according to an arrest affidavit.

The deputy said he could smell the "distinct odor of marijuana" coming from the 2001 Jeep that Cunha was driving. Cunha allegedly admitted to having marijuana and provided a small mason jar with a green leafy substance and said he had more marijuana in a backpack, according to the affidavit.

The deputy looked in the backpack and found a scale, a box of plastic baggies and four more mason jars of marijuana that were labeled Real Lemon, Flo, Cindy 99 and Strawberry Cough, according to the affidavit.

Cunha was arrested on a felony charge of possession of controlled substance with the intent to sell. Cunha was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
