Palm Harbor Firefighter Honored

PHFR Firefighter-Paramedic Barry Prindle received an award for his efforts during two life-threatening situations.

Palm Harbor Fire Rescue Firefighter-Paramedic Barry Prindle was recently honored with the HCA Pinellas County EMS All-Star Team Award.

Prindle was nominated because of his actions during medical emergencies over the last year. Two of the life-threatening incidents were recognized by the Office of the Medical Director with Commendations.

Prindle successfully delivered a baby who's life was in danger during the initial stages of labor. Both child and mother survived and are doing well.

On another occasion, Prindle resuscitated a man who had gone into cardiac arrest at a local medical imaging office. Gordon Wysocki was not breathing and did not have a pulse when firefighters first arrived. However, because of Prindle's quick reaction, Wysocki is alive today and recently appeared at a Fire Commissioners meeting to express his thanks to the crew members.

Largo Medical Center Hospital CEO Richard Satcher presented Prindle with the HCA Pinellas County EMS All-Star Team Award. Prindle has more than 20 years experience with Palm Harbor Fire Rescue.
