Pinellas County Approves Water Fluoridation
Last year, Pinellas County Commissioners voted to remove fluoride from the county's drinking water. Tuesday, commissioners voted to put it back in.
Thanks to Pinellas County Communications for passing along this information.
On Nov. 27, 2012, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners approved the addition of fluoride to the Pinellas County water system.
The level of fluoride in the drinking water will be adjusted to 0.7 parts per million (PPM). This water fluoridation program will provide a level recommended for optimal dental health which can significantly reduce the occurrences of tooth decay.
Fluoride’s ability to inhibit or even reverse the onset and development of dental caries is well documented by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and the American Dental Association (ADA).

Linda do your homework. Sweden removed fluoride from its water. Other experts advised of the dangers. You're a racist to think that the lower income aren't smart enough to teach dental hygiene to their own children. Like Johnny Johnson I never see you volunteering for the poor. You're filled with hatred and ignorance!

"WE" won't be drinking the water.
Go to www.fluoridealert.org to get the facts on the poison they are adding back into your drinking water.

The radical right wing has been trying to get rid of fluoride for for over forty years; in my youth I was part of that ignorant cabal, and this is merely one of dozens of procedures or organizations where they employed heebie-jeebie scare tactics to distort science.
Now we have some eco alarmists joining them, and it makes for a sickening combination.
But, this is America, and even wild ideas are given a place at the podium.
It reminds me of the classic 1964 movie "Dr. Strangelove", where the character General Jack D. Ripper says:
"Do you realize that in addition to fluoridating water, why, there are studies underway to fluoridate salt, flour, fruit juices, soup, sugar, milk, ice cream? Ice cream, Mandrake? Children's ice cream!...You know when fluoridation began?...1946. 1946, Mandrake. How does that coincide with your post-war Commie conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual, and certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works." (General Jack D. Ripper)

For those who choose to remain ignorant on this issue.............there is a major difference between the "fluoride" you speak of and what is actually being added to the water.
Sodium Fluoride is used in toothpaste and dental offices.
Hydrofluosilicic Acid is what they plan to add to the water.
Have you read where Hydrofluosilicic Acid originates? It doesn't take much of a brain to realize this Acid shouldn't be placed into the water supply.
It's illegal for these BIG BUSINESSES to dump this toxin into the ocean, but it's fine and dandy for them to sell it to communities to place into their water........and those who oppose this are crazy???
And for any person that's spent ANY time on this, the science is clear, for "Fluoride" to actually work, it must be applied topically. It works from the outer surface inward........topical.
Sunscreen is also to be used topically........how many of you swallow your sunscreen to protect your skin??

Dad of Three, the time you spent to find the Strangelove quote is the same amount of time it takes to realize this Fluoride issue should be an issue.
And as usual, you and others always have to throw out the generalizations.......you guys always have to label and group others. I hate the Right Wing, the Left Wing......the entire Bird of Prey that is Govt.......and I do not want a toxin added to the water supply.
And this entire time, I thought the D's were against BIG BUSINESS. I guess we should bow down to the whims of the Phosphate Industry in Florida??
And regardless of where you stand on the issue, they are literally throwing taxpayer money down the toilet. Let me ask you the same question I proposed to them at the meeting, how many of you are going to be drinking the water out of your toilet? Perhaps you will drink the water being used to water your lawn or even drink the water while washing your car.
Talk about money wasted......the majority of that fluoridated water doesn't go anywhere near a tooth. If these people really cared about the people, as well as finances, they would start a program to bottle fluoridated water to be distributed to those who CHOOSE to put the acid into their body. This would save the county money, since all the Hydrofluosilicic Acid would actually be used...........and it would appease those who do not want this in their water supply.
As it is, like most Govt decisions, taxpayer money is being flushed down the toilet!

For Sammy, it took less than three minutes; I'm old enough to remember the movie, and roughly recalled the dialogue. A quick Google trip, to pin down the literal dialogue, was all that was needed.

I wish someone would explain why is it OK to add chlorine to drinking water to prevent bacteria from invading the body but not OK to add fluorine to drinking water to prevent bacteria from invading the teeth. Both chemicals are halogens, both chemicals are lethal in high concentrations and both chemicals originate in salts dug out of the earth by large corporations, and both chemicals are effective in what they are advertized to do.

Hooray! An intelligent comment on this chicken-little syndrome overreaction to renewing fluoridation.
