Relay for Life Raises More Than $75,000

Relay for Life participants took over the football field and running track at Palm Harbor University High Friday and Saturday for the annual American Cancer Society event, which raised more than $75,000.

29 teams participated in this year's American Cancer Society Relay for Life event held Friday evening through Saturday on the football field at .

Members of individual teams traded off walking around the track. Teams set up campsites on the football field for napping and to use as a home base. There was also plenty of food, games and other activities for participants.

PHUH Principal Christen Tonry was this year's Event Chair. Palm Harbor Relay for Life teams raised at total of $75,965 during the event, according to the organization's website. The money stays in the Palm Harbor Community.

Teams were honored for their fundraising efforts before the relay began. Tonry read the names of the teams and individuals who raised the largest amounts of money.

  2. Nationwide Title Clearing Smurfs $13,571
  3. Housewives of PH/Princess & Pirates $10,666

  2. Amy Charles $6,010
  3. Erika Lance $2,425 

The Palm Harbor Relay for Life "Wrap Up Party" will be held at 6 p.m. May 15, at the Palm Harbor Fire Rescue Station #65 on West Lake Rd.
