What Should Replace This Palm Harbor Sweetbay?

Will you be sad to see this grocery store close? What do you think should take its place?

The Palm Harbor Sweetbay Supermarket at 3400 E. Lake Road is among 33 under performing stores in Florida scheduled to close in Feburary, the grocer's parent company announced Wednesday.

The story sparked a lot of discussion among Patch readers about what should replace it:

  • "Walmart Neighborhood Market anyone??" Steve Ur suggested.
  • "No thank you!" countered Debbie O'Brien. "Whole Foods or Trader Joe's anyone?" Several other readers also liked the idea of a Trader Joe's coming to East Lake.
  • "Fresh Store would be great also," posted Tracy Talley.

We want to hear from you: Do you shop at this Sweetbay? Will you be sad to see it go? What do you think should replace it? Post a comment below and join the conversation.

My husband wants a Best Buy, I would love to see a good pet food store. Or maybe I could get donations and open a large pet boarding facility!

Seriously, I will miss having Sweet Bay, it was my favorite!

A better supermarket. I wish chains, such as Trader Joe's, Wegman's or Whole Foods would take that space. I find myself shopping at 2 different stores to get the things I need.

Kroger or Meijer grocery -They can compete with publix and walmart or a Menards home improvement which sells many Made in the U.S.A products.

A True Value Hardware would be awesome so we don't have to endure the masses that flock to the other big box home improvement stores.

An ALDI supermarket! (Trader Joe is his biological brother!) Basic stock, BUT, prices are lower than Walmart & all of the other box stores.
