First Friday was held on the first Friday of each month in the parking lot of Harbor Hall in historic old downtown Palm Harbor. The family friendly celebration featured food trucks, music and activities for kids and adults.

OPHMS is the nonprofit group that organizes First Friday. The group recently had some staffing changes and decided to cancel First Friday during the staffing transition. OPHMS has not said when the First Friday celebrations will return.

OPHMS is also dealing with another transition. The organization used to maintain the historic White Chapel and Harbor Hall and also handle wedding and special event bookings at these locations. But, OPHMS decided to give that responsibility back to the county, which owns the buildings. OPHMS will now focus solely on promoting historic old downtown Palm Harbor, which is the organization's mission.

The county has designated Palm Harbor Community Services Agency (PHCSA) to take over as the role of manager of Harbor Hall and White Chapel, effective Aug. 1, 2013. PHCSA is a nonprofit organization that manages the parks and libraries in Palm Harbor, which is unincorporated.

"Our focus is all things community and this fit right into it," CSA Palm Harbor Director Erica Lynford said. CSA Palm Harbor is the branch of PHCSA that is taking over staffing of events and maintenance of Harbor Hall and the White Chapel.

Events currently booked at the facilities will see no changes, as past agreements are still being honored. The only change that will be noticeable will be the faces and names behind the scenes.

For more information about renting the facility or about recreation programming Palm Harbor, you can contact 727-771-6000 or visit www.csapalmharbor.org. Downtown events are still being managed by OPHMS, and they can be reached via the web at www.ophmainst.com.
