Do you have a great recipe that uses citrus as the primary flavor? Here's your chance to show it off and maybe even win a bake-off!
Applications are now being accepted for the 2012 Palmsbury Bake-Off, which will be held during the Palm Harbor Citrus Festival.
The one-day bake-off event takes place at the Citrus Festival on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Harbor Hall, 1190 Georgia Ave. in downtown Palm Harbor. Entrants bake their entries at home and then bring them to Harbor Hall for presentation to the judges.
Organizers say there are categories for all ages, making the bake-off a fun activity for the whole family.
"Cooking and baking is a great for the generations in a family to connect. I am sure that most of us have great memories of a warm kitchen, smelling of freshly baked cookies, growing up. This is a great way for family members to make a lasting memory," says Festival Palmsbury Bake-Off Chairperson Rick Pucci.
Seniors will get to enter the event for free. "Our seniors have so much to offer us. The Bake-off is a great way to let them know that they are vital and have much to contribute to our community, " says Pucci
The theme of the bake-off is citrus, so that must be the primary flavor or ingredient of your entry.
Pucci recommends that you use some creativity in your recipe, "The judges will be looking for entries that look appealing, taste superb, and demonstrate creativity. I encourage people to take risks and try something new – this is an event that will reward innovation."
