Randolph says brand new Ferraris are custom made and assembled by hand, which can take six to 18 months depending on which model you get. Buying a brand new Ferrari also puts you in an exclusive group, only 1500 Ferraris are delivered to the U.S. each year.

"They could easily produce double the amount of cars, but making a limited amount helps maintain resale values," says Randolph.

Randolph says the California hard top convertible and the 458 Italia are two of the more popular models. Base prices for new Ferraris can start around $230,000; options can increase the price upwards of $100,000.

If you don't want to wait for a Ferrari to be built for you, there are plenty of "like new" models in the showroom available for immediate purchase. The least expensive is a red, 1995, Ferrari 355 that has 28,000 miles, six-speed manual transmission, tan interior and costs $79,900. Prices for the other used Ferraris go up, some top out in the multi-million dollar range.

If you like high-end Ferraris, but can't afford the high price, Ferrari of Tampa Bay has a well stocked retail area featuring Ferrari products like toy model cars, watches, apparel, hats and more. Prices for the toy model Ferraris start at a budget-friendly $9.95.
