Paint-and-Sip Art Studio to Open in North Pinellas

Pinot's Palette studios allow customers to bring in a bottle of wine or another beverage to sip while they take a painting lesson from a local artist. Customers recreate a painting by master artists like Van Gogh and take the painting home.

North Pinellas will soon have its first paint-and-sip art studio, "Pinot's Palette".

Paint-and-sip art studios are gaining in popularity across the country. The studios allow customers to bring in a bottle of wine or another beverage to sip while they take a painting lesson from a local artist. Customers recreate a painting by master artists like Van Gogh and then get to take the painting home.

"Who doesn't want to paint and drink wine while they do it?" said Oldsmar Pinot's Palette owner Jennifer Loveland.

Customers sign up for classes online. Classes cost $35 per person for a two-hour session and $45 per person for a three-hour session. You just need to show up with whatever beverage you want to drink and any snacks you'd like and Pinot's Palette provides the rest; paint, paint brushes, a canvas, easel, wine glasses, plates, eating utensils and napkins.

Group classes can also be scheduled and there are even classes for kids too, but without the wine. Pinot's Palette will also book mobile events.

Loveland, who grew up in Clearwater and now lives in Tarpon Springs, says Pinot's Palette is also a fun option for girls night out, kids' parties and date nights for couples.

Loveland first discovered paint-and-sip studios when she was looking for a way to relax and have fun after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She says her lack of artistic skills were never a factor when she was creating her paintings, which now decorate her office.

"I don't have an artistic bone in my body," she said.

Loveland, who works in the financial services industry, got the idea to open a Pinot's Palette franchise in Oldsmar after realizing there was not a sip-and-paint studio in north Pinellas county.

"There is something really special about this," she said.

The busy mother of two kids plans to eventually work full-time at Pinot's Palette.

Pinot's Palette is scheduled to open this October at the Woodland's Square Plaza which is near the intersection of Tampa and Curlew Roads.

Pinot's Palette will be located at 3150 Tampa Rd. Unit 17-A in Oldsmar
