Palm Harbor Krispy Kreme Moves to St. Pete

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts can no longer be found "hot now" in Palm Harbor.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts can no longer be found "hot now" in Palm Harbor.

Signs are taken down and brown paper covers the windows at the former storefront at 32130 U.S. Highway 19 N.

"We would like to thank you for your patronage over the years and hope you will visit us at the new location," says a letter hanging on the door from Stuart Brown, vice president.

The walk-in and drive-thru location closed Sept. 8. It will open on Sept. 20 at its new St. Petersburg location, 9100 4th St. N.

The letter cites impending traffic changes for planned construction between Clearwater and Palm Harbor on U.S. Highway 19 as the reason Krispy Kreme is looking to bring business to St. Petersburg.

The letter does not indicate a desire to stay in North Pinellas, but it doesn't rule out a future location in the middle of the county.

"We are continually looking for a replacement site in the mid-county area and hope to have it up very soon," the letter says.

Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts will still be available at Walmart, Publix, Winn Dixie and Sweetbay.
