Comedians Go Ape for Charity April 1

April Fool's Day fun! The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary is hosting a family-friendly comedy event Sunday with lots of food, music and laughs, all for a good cause.

The will host a comedy event April 1.

The is a fundraiser for the sanctuary, at 4600 Alternate U.S. 19. According to event coordinator Rob Isselbaecher, the event will feature the band Rocket Man playing the music of Elton John, plus a host of comedians from the and lots of food.

The event runs from 3-6 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children younger than 12, and all proceeds benefit the sanctuary. For tickets, call 727-420-8253.

The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary is home to all kinds of rescued animals, from former performers to animals who were used in labs and animals whose owners could no longer keep them. In addition to orangutans, chimpanzees, lemurs and monkeys, the sanctuary is a refuge for exotic birds, goats, alligators and other animals.
