Adult Nightclub Shooting Suspects At Large

Authorities say a member of the Palm Harbor club's cleaning crew was shot during a robbery attempt over the weekend and they are looking for two suspects.

Authorities are searching for two suspects in a weekend shooting at a Palm Harbor adult nightclub that left one man injured.

Two men entered Silks nightclub, 37100 U.S. 19, around 4:10 a.m. Saturday and shot a cleaning crew employee during a robbery attempt, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. They took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The victim, Edward Levine, 42, of Safety Harbor, was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

One suspect is described as being in his late teens to early 20s. He was wearing a plaid, hooded sweat shirt with a knit hat under the hood and dark-colored, baggy shorts during the shooting, according to authorities.

The second suspect, also in his late teens to early 20s, wore a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark-colored pants.

The sheriff's office released security photos of the two suspects Tuesday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jim Beining of the Robbery/Homicide Unit at 727-582-6200. To remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 800-873-TIPS.

Amish is not a nationality.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Dept. news release says that both suspects are black which is key information to know if they want help catching these two. It eliminates all the other races and cuts down the field of suspects. By not including this information the "Patch" is doing a disservice to the victims, the residents of the area and to the Sheriff's office.

With all the political correctness going on in the future the suspect's description in the news will probably read something like this:
The suspect is describe as: possibly human. Anyone know someone that fits this description is asked to call the Sheriff's office.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We take the identification of suspects very seriously in our crime reporting on Patch. We also try to balance providing information while not contributing to negative stereotypes. Would simply noting that a suspect is black and in his 20s be enough information that you'd be able to spot him on the street, or does it make more people needlessly fearful of all young black men? These are the types of things we consider in our reporting. Thanks for joining the conversation.
