Motorcyclist Charged With DUI After Crash With Deputy Cruiser

Test results show that Martin Lucas McFadden, 23 had a blood-alcohol level of .080 and also had THC in his system when he crashed his motorcycle into a deputy cruiser in Palm Harbor, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

A Tarpon Springs motorcyclist who was involved in a crash with a Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy cruiser in April has now been charged with DUI.

Deputies arrested Martin Lucas McFadden, 23, late Friday afternoon after receiving the results of blood tests that McFadden took on the day of the crash.

Test results show that McFadden had a blood-alcohol level of .080 and also had THC in his system, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Crash scene investigators say McFadden was driving his motorcycle south on Alt. 19 near Georgia Avenue at 12:09 a.m. on April 27. He was behind Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy Travis Sibley, who was driving an unmarked cruiser. Sibley slowed to make a u-turn and McFadden tried to pass Sibley in the center turn lane, but wound up hitting the driver's side rear panel of the deputy's cruiser.

McFadden, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from his motorcycle and transported to the hospital. Deputy Sibley was also treated at a hospital.

McFadden was charged with one count of DUI and one count of DUI involving property damage. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $1,000 bond.
