Palm Harbor Pedestrian Dies of Crash Injuries

The Florida Highway Patrol says Cruz Magdalenna Gallego, 88, was struck by a car while walking near the Lake Tarpon community.

An 88-year-old Palm Harbor woman who suffered critical injuries following a car-versus-pedestrian crash on Summer Lane in the early morning hours of Aug. 21 is now dead, authorities report.

Cruz Magdalenna Gallego, 88, was walking southeast on Summer Lane near Summer Way around 7:40 a.m. when a car driven by Kenneth Allen Ramsdell, 60, made a left turn onto Summer Lane. The car struck Gallego, according to Sgt. Steve Gaskins of the Florida Highway Patrol.

Gallego was taken to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center for treatment, Gaskins said. She passed as a result of her injuries on Aug. 21 at around 7 p.m., according to FHP.

Charges in the crash are pending further investigation.
