Students Uninjured After BMW Collides With School Bus

The car's 18-year-old driver was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign after she allegedly pulled in front of the bus carrying 21 students from Brooker Creek Elementary School.

A BMW that failed to stop at a stop sign collided with a school bus carrying 21 children from Brooker Creek Elementary School on Tuesday afternoon in Palm Harbor, according to authorities.

The bus driver and students were uninjured after the car's driver, 18-year-old Gabriella Eliza Fermano of Palm Harbor, made a left turn onto Highpoint Drive and pulled directly in front of the bus, which was headed south, Florida Highway Patrol investigators said. The front left of the bus collided with the left side of her 2009 vehicle, according to a report.

Fermano was exiting the Myrtle Point neighborhood at Mira Vista Drive around 3:10 p.m. when she allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the FHP.

She was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital with minor injuries and was charged with violation of right-of-way from a stop intersection.
