Another "A" for Palm Harbor University High

Palm Harbor University High (PHUH) maintained its "A" grade status in 2010-11 according to statistics released Wednesday from the Florida Dept. of Education.

PHUH and East Lake were the only two Pinellas County High Schools to receive an "A" grade. Last year, seven high schools received "A"s. 

Statewide, high school grades improved over last year. According to the Florida Dept. of Education, 78 percent of the state's high schools earned either an "A" or "B" grade, that's an increase from 71 percent last year.

"It's great to see more of Florida's high schools trending upward," said Governor Scott. "Education is critical to improving lives, preparing students for a job and attracting employers."

PHUH earned a total of 1,374 points in the accountability report. The breakdown is as follows-

• Graduation Rate: 99 (up from 98)
• Graduation Rate At-Risk: 90 (down from 92)
• Acceleration Participation: 91 (up from 87)
• Acceleration Performance: 100 (same as previous year)
• Readiness Reading: 94 (same as previous year)
• Readiness Math: 87 (same as previous year)
• Bonus Points: 1 for Graduation Rate, 4 for Acceleration Participation
• Points for FCAT Components: 612
• Points for High School Components: 762
• Total Points Earned= 1,374
