High School Softball: Palm Harbor's Lady Hurricanes Advance to Regional Finals

Palm Harbor University High's Lady Hurricanes beat the defending state champion Durant High Cougars 1-0 in Tuesday evening's regional semi-finals.

Eight months of hard work, practice and determination paid off for Palm Harbor University High's Lady Hurricanes.

The softball team beat Plant City's Durant High Cougars 1-0 in Tuesday evening's regional semi-finals.

The win was extra sweet for the team, Durant beat the Lady Hurricanes almost one year ago today in the regional semi-finals.

"We started talking about beating Durant in September of last year," said Lady Hurricanes Head Coach Kerry Katchuk shortly after the game.

"Durant knocked us out last year. They were the number one team in the state."

The lone run came in the 6th inning when Jessica Adams had an RBI single.

The Lady Hurricanes move on to play Orlando's Timber Creek at home on Friday in the Class 8A region finals.
