Florida Highway Patrol investigators say a surveillance camera outside the entrance of a gated Palm Harbor home recorded a man who hit the gate with his SUV and then left. Jeremy Allan Bogie, 25, of Palm Harbor, was arrested and charged with violation of parole and leaving the scene of a crash. FHP investigators say that just before midnight on Feb. 3, Bogie hit the gate outside a home at 4708 Pleasant Ave. while driving a red, 1998 Ford Explorer. He then allegedly left. Bogie later returned to the home in a vehicle driven by his mother. At that time, an FHP officer was at the home responding to a 911 call about the alleged hit and run involving the gate. A BMW ran a red light at the intersection, killing a 54-year-old Holiday man in a pickup truck, investigators said Wednesday morning.
Updated, 9:54 a.m.: The man killed in the crash has been identified as Robert Henry Raymer Jr., 54, of Holiday. A Holiday man was killed early Wednesday morning at the intersection of McMullen Booth and Curlew roads in Palm Harbor when his pickup truck was hit by a car that ran a red light, investigators said. Robert Henry Raymer Jr., 54, was headed eastbound on Curlew shortly after 5:30 a.m. when a BMW failed to stop for the red light on McMullen Booth and hit the pickup truck's passenger side, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Raymer suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, investigators said. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. If you think a Halloween costume will disguise your drunk driving, the Florida Highway Patrol has a message just for you: “Keep the party off the road.” The Patrol joins thousands of other law enforcement and highway safety agencies across the nation this week to launch an aggressive crackdown on impaired drivers through Nov. 4. “The Patrol continues to make driving under the influence (DUI) enforcement a priority,” said Col. State police are advising motorists not to act like turkeys but to drive responsibly during the busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
You should expect to see more traffic then usual, as Floridians make day trips and tourists visit our area for the long holiday weekend. Because the Thanksgiving holiday typically produces a high volume of traffic, the Florida Highway Patrol will increase its presence Wednesday through Sunday. All state troopers will patrol Florida’s high-volume roads, including in Palm Harbor and across Tampa Bay, during the five-day period. Troopers will direct enforcement efforts toward impaired drivers, speeding, motorists who follow too closely and other aggressive driving behaviors.
