Local Business Proves to be a Fresh Catch

A favorite to locals, Harr's Surf and Turf Market continues to satisfy customers after more than 20 years.

After providing more than two decades of personalized service, Ervin and Beverly Harr say they understand the importance of adaptation, business strategy and hard work, which is why they think Harr’s Surf and Turf Market is a successful local favorite.

Specializing in aged prime meats, fresh seafood, Boar’s Head Brand deli items, all-natural poultry, specialty cheeses, fine wines and more than 300 imported and microbrew beers, this local market has something for everyone.

Having expanded three times since its original opening in 1987, Harr’s Surf and Turf Market has continued to adapt to the ever-changing economy and unforeseen events such as the BP/Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which took place in the Gulf of Mexico last year.

The market prides itself on superior quality and freshness. “Our meats and poultry are delivered five days a week, and our seafood is delivered six days a week,” general manager Stephan Innocenzi said. “Our fish is caught on a day boat, which means the boat goes out in the morning and comes back in that same day.”

Innocenzi said most meats come from the Midwest and are grain-fed for optimal marbling and tenderness. Seafood items are mostly caught locally with some order items flown in from around the country.

Harr’s Surf and Turf specializes in top-notch service, which they say is the secret to their success. All customers are handled on a one-on-one basis, and all products are customizable to specific sizes, cuts and quantities.

Offering several discounts on items purchased in bulk, the market also offers coupons through Valpak, Groupon.com and TheFlyer.com.

Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
